Admittedly, I was supposed to post a backstory post, but I just want to provide you an update on something related to 2XKO. Based on things I stated on the post regarding 2XKO in 2026 and what people have been expecting. And it's something to do with Evo Japan. This post may sting a little, but this is something to get off my chest.
Now, I originally said that we're gonna see the Season 2 trailer dropped before or after 2XKO Top 8 at Evo Japan 2026, but apparently, the trailer didn't drop. Capcom is announcing something in regards to Street Fighter 6 before or after Top 8, Bandai Namco is dropping the Kunimitsu trailer after Tekken 8 Top 8, Mr. Karate is revealed for Fatal Fury, Zohar is revealed as the fourth DLC character for Under Night In-Birth II: Sys:Celes and Kula Diamond from KOF and Mai Shiranui from Fatal Fury are announced to be returning DLC for Dead or Alive 6: Last Round.
Evo is known for throwing out announcements for fighting games, courtesy of a number of developers. 2XKO is one of the games in three Evos this year. However, since we didn't get a Season 2 trailer at Evo Japan like I predicted, I don't think that Riot is gonna announce something at any other Evo events before or after Top 8. I did a post talking about the roadmap of everything coming to 2XKO in 2026. I'll provide a link to it at the end of the post.
If you're wondering why Riot can't announce something for 2XKO in a major fighting game event after or before Top 8 like other developers, well, since 2XKO is a free-to-play fighting game, I think the team has the flexibility to make announcements anytime. Here's the thing; they announced Caitlyn at the Game Awards last year. In the previous Weekly Warmup, Akali and Senna were announced. Because of it, since the Season 2 trailer didn't drop at Evo Japan, it will drop one day before launch.
We know that the Senna trailer will drop the coming Tuesday and she will launch in Season 2 along with a new Fuse and a Duo Finder on May 12 way before Evo. But here's the thing. Look at the trailer for MultiVersus Season 2. Beetlejuice was revealed at the end of the trailer to fall with Samurai Jack within Season 2. Now, imagine the trailer for 2XKO Season 2 revealing the fourth character of the year at the end of the trailer to fall with Senna within Season 2.
While my expections have changed, my prediction of the Season 2 trailer revealing the fourth character at the end is still in play, along with other methods of revealing the rest of the characters. I still think, even if we didn't see the Season 2 trailer at Evo Japan, that Character 4 is gonna be revealed at the end of the Season 2 trailer.
