Bravely Default - review

When the PS1 was first released, Square continues the developement of the Final Fantasy games. Final Fantasy is a series that has magic upgrades, abilities, etc. The game has an epic storyline with a point of view as well. After that, Square and Enix combine together to make Square Enix. The company keeps developing RPG games time and time again.

Square Enix's legal notice has some stuff that has something to do with the legal issues that they are having. As of right now, their legal issues have been fixed thoroughly.

This RPG game is from the developing and planning team of Final Fantasy with a chibi-form. For more info, check out the review.

Bravely Default is a JRPG game exclusively on the 3DS that has benefits of Final Fantasy. It's since the PS1 Final Fantasy games came out recently, as well as The 4 Guardians of Light.

The Story:

A young boy named Tiz Arrior lives in Norende Village peacefully with his brother. The situation took a turn for the worse when the Great Chasm crumbles the whole village. After the destruction of Norende Village, the Eternian forces are here to kill the tyrants to clear out the situation. When Tiz goes out to the ravine, he sightsees that the whole world is in peril. Then he meets the young girl who was the vestal of wind. Her name was Agnés Oblige. The soldiers have come to arrest both Tiz and Agnés. In a nutshell, the Eternian law was stated.

When the situation was cleared, the gang meet together and awaken the four crystals to bring the world back to life, thus destroying the Great Chasm and unleashing the Holy Pillar.

Introduction:

Tiz Arrior was a 19 year old citizen of Norende Village who was a sole survivor of the Great Chasm. With his friends, he often ends up with a lot on his plate when the forces of Eternia clear out the chaos.

Second, Agnés Oblige meets up with him at the view of the Great Chasm. She is a wind vestal. Along with her, she has a cryst-fairy named Airy. When the situation gets hot, Agnés and Tiz go outside of the ravine.

Third, Ringabel is a memory man with a typical run like that. He has a slight memory that was found in D's Journal. In other words, the journal has a lot of his memories upon him.

Finally, Edea Lee was found in the dungeon, along with a couple of people. She loves really sweet things, but dislikes the insects. Caldisla was set alight before she was served under the Black Mage.

The World Map:

Bravely Default has a world map with markings of the scenario. Yellow means main and blue means sub. It allows you to save your progress using the left bar that can be opened by touching the arrow or pressing the directional pad right. There's a day and night feature that enemies at day and enemies at night are shown.

Friends:

They can be summoned in battle using the Summon option. You can send them to attack for you. Using Ablilnk also helps you get through the game. Those of the friend-specific actions that can require you a Nintendo Network account.

Sub Scenarios:

They are side quests that are main story arcs. You can be able to complete them all for a special bonus. More of jobs can be earned with them along with the main-scenarios.

The Gameplay:

The gameplay has some benefits of the PS1 Final Fantasy games like magic upgrades, jobs, etc. The battle system has new touches like using the power of Brave and Default. The Default system allows you to go on the defensive and gain 1 BP that can consist of using the Brave system.

The Power of Brave:

The Brave system is a feature that can make you use multiple attacks. You can Brave it whatever you like. However, you can use it up to 3 times. Also, when their BP reaches at negative, you won't act until it's at 0. When you Default 3 times, your BP is at positive max and you'll be alright.

Bravely Second:

It's a cool feature that can allow you to stop time. To use it, press the Start button to turn on Bravely Second. The feature requires SP to do so. Be careful, SP can work as BP. If your SP is at negative, you won't use it. The solution is, you can refill SP by putting your 3DS into Sleep Mode for a few hours. Don't want to wait? Well, you can use an SP Drink for a quick refill. It requires an internet connection.

Gaining More Jobs:

At the beginning of the game, the four heroes start out with Freelancer, a job with average abilities. In order to get more jobs, you will beat the main and sub scenarios. They come from asterisks that can offer you more jobs when you beat the specified boss. When you get all jobs, a special bonus will be awarded to you.

The Rebuilding of Norende Village:

The whole village was crumbled by the Great Chasm and you will need to rebuild it. The parts of it allow you to wait until the part is done in minutes and hours. When the part was completed, offerings will be awarded to you like, Special parts, weapons, armor, etc. A head start to the village will be offered once you beaten the demo.

Special Moves:

They are powerful attacks that can act like Corporeal Magic from the Xbox 360 exculsive, Blue Dragon. In order to perform a Special move, you must meet the conditions like this for example, "For the Sword, use Brave 10 times." You can get more Special moves by rebuilding the Special shop. As the level rises, more is awarded to you. During the Special, their character-specific jingle will be played from time to time.

As the Story Progresses:

For instance, when the story unfolds, Airy's part of the brooch lights up. It means the crystal was awakened. On Chapter 1 to 4, as the crystal awakens, a space for a support ability, which is under Ability will be awarded.

The Best and the Worst:

Bravely Default is a fantastic RPG game that Final Fantasy fans will not hate. The game's storyline is epic as Ni no Kuni and keen with a whole lot of action. In other words, Square Enix's creation was a hit! If you seen the commercial, then you might understand the game.

In other words, it wasn't a game just for everyone. Some may say it was an epic fail, but many will say it was amazing. As for the four heroes, they are talented. It was a free kill for Final Fantasy fans to earn for this game. To top it off, there's no Lite content on it because of the games on the PS1.

Pros:

+Special moves are powerful
+Getting more jobs is interesting
+Able to set the annoying random encounter rate
+Epic and deep storyline and gameplay

Cons:

There are no cons

Bravely Default was an awesome game. I could call it "Final Fantasy Lite," but I don't think I can because most of the Final Fantasy games will be called that. It wasn't like Mystic Heroes or some sort. In other words, I declare Bravely Default Best RPG Game for 2014 while I give it a solid and perfect 10 for Prime from me, of course! Way to go, Square Enix, we love you and your creations!

  1. Well there is one major thing VERY wrong in this review which I have to tell you.

You said a con with this game was that the random battles were annoying. . . . . . When you can actually turn of the random encounters ENTIRELY in tactics > config.

You can also increase the encounter rate to 100%, which means that in every two steps, you fight, it was a great way to grind in the game.

Also the Eternian forces didn't call any rescue party :/ They were there to kill or capture Agnés, nothing else.
