The Guided Fate Paradox - review

Every once in a while, NIS America decides to take the RPG gaming to the next level for the fans around the world. Many years ago, the PS2 game Disgaea: Hour of Darkness hit the shelves in the west. Right now, it's no longer in stores anymore since waited 10 years for the latest game Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness. In the 5th of November, a game that is from the development and planning team of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness hit store shelves. The game is called The Guided Fate Paradox. Let's check out the review about it!

The Story of Paradox:

The Guided Fate Paradox takes place in Celestia, a palace where many people including angels that can give joy and harmony. In the beginning of the story, a young high schooler named Renya Kagurazaka had never won a single lottery game. Suddenly, he came across a young female angel named Lilliel Saotome. In the lottery game, Renya was chosen as a God who can guide their fates and overall, keep the lessons up and running.

Basically, Renya, a chosen God by the lottery has a mission to guide their fates and put them back to normal.

The Gameplay:

The Guided Fate Paradox has a refined gameplay. In each of the dungeon, walking is compatible with the directional pad. With the control stick, you can choose what skill you would use. If the skills reach 100%, they enter Burst Mode and can have powerful attacks. They are called Divine Skills and they are in equipments.

To use regular attacks, press the X button. After pressing the Triangle button, there are various commands including Pick Up, which can be used by selecting the command. To throw any object, select the Throw command. For big damage on enemies, you can throw any object at an enemy.

Here, it has partners that you can take with on your journey. You can only carry one partner at a time. He or she can attack with you. Your partner can't take part in boss battles and you need to do this on your own.

As Renya, he has an EN (Energy) gauge that can be depleted using actions. If his EN reaches 0, his HP can deplete gradually. However, if you eat anything, Renya's EN regenerates. Make sure you pay attention to the EN gauge that can deplete faster by pressing both X and Circle buttons at a same time.

If Renya's HP reaches 0, all of his stuff and half money are lost. If you're in a tight spot, use the "Exit!" item that can take you back to Celestia. Even though you failed in a dungeon with the frustrated portion, you can still get stronger with the Total Level you earned when reverting a level back to 1.

At a board-like menu, you can place tiles that can increase your stats, and statues that can give Renya's increases. The more tiles you place, the better and stronger as he gets. It's a portion of the game that was important.

Celestia has a bank that lets you deposit money you earned in the dungeon. Use it more often to avoid losing half of your money. It's important that you must always use it. If half of your money was lost, would you scream or say "I won't give up!"? That's why the bank is important.

The cog gauge represents as a God Mode gauge that can be filled up by fighting. If it reaches at max, it's ready to go and you can activate it by selecting the God Mode command with the yellow text. During God Mode, Renya's attacks are powerful and it can be depleted by taking damage and using skills.

When Fates Are Being Guided:

With that being said, Renya has a mission to guide their fates when entering the Fate Revolution Circuit, a pad that can warp him and his partner to a place with a lesson. The 7 angels are considered as partners of him. If the fates are successfully guided, then chances are, the lessons will back to normal without any harshness.

The More You Know:

The Guided Fate Paradox is a game for anime fans or non. It was a big of a hit that it has a limited editon. If you're planning to get the game, then things would be perfect, though. But it doesn't mean you could watch someone else fail to beat it. Sometimes a flock of enemies might appear, putting you on a tight spot, so you need to be careful.

The Best and the Worst:

I'll say that this game was flat out awesome! Even with the frustrating portions! I would recommend someone to get this game. It was all thanks to NIS' hard working because of the colorful RPGs! I wouldn't give it a low score, but many games aren't perfect, though.

Pros:

+God Mode is awesome

Cons:

-Losing half of your money and all your stuff is a thing in a past
-Some enemies are annoying
-Some portions of the game are really frustrating

It was an awesome game from the development and planning team of Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, and it wasn't recently outdated when NIS' hard working pays off. Because of that, I give The Guided Fate Paradox for the PlayStation 3 a solid and perfect 10, for prime! Well done, NIS America, we appreciate your colorful games!
